Xavier concludes season in Round of 16 at NAIA Men's Tennis Championship Tournament
WACO, Texas (May 14, 2026) – Xavier University of Louisiana's season has concluded after a NAIA National Men's Tennis Championship Round-of-16 4-3 loss to Morningside (Iowa) on May 13.
The Gold Rush completed its 2025-26 campaign with a 15-8 record. The team has been a season-long top-25 team in both the ITA and NAIA polls, with a strong record against ranked opponents.
At No. 1 singles, Xavier's Nereo Suarez defeated the Mustangs' Marcos Menendez Hervella 7-6(0), 6-3. In No. 1 doubles, Suarez and Christian Sanchez (Xavier) defeated Hervella and Alexis Diaz (Morningside) 6-3.
Sanchez won his singles match against Diaz 6-1, 6-4. Xavier's third point came from Gabriel Velez at No. 4 singles, who defeated Jesse Gerth 6-3, 6-3.

Mathys Arnold (Morningside) at No. 3 singles defeated Emmanuel Jebutu (Xavier) 6-1, 6-4.
In No. 5 singles, Santiago Minetti (Morningside) defeated Edilson Rosa (Xavier) 6-1, 3-6, 6-1.
Gabriel Whiston (Morningside) defeated Martin Rivera at No. 6 singles 6-0, 6-1.
In No. 5 singles, Santiago Minetti (Morningside) defeated Edilson Rosa (Xavier) 6-1, 3-6, 6-1.
Gabriel Whiston (Morningside) defeated Martin Rivera at No. 6 singles 6-0, 6-1.
In No. 2 doubles, Morningside's Whiston and Minetti defeated Jebutu 6-4.
