LSUA, OLLU, and TAMUT lead charge to 2026 NAIA Softball Nationals

WACO, Texas (May 10, 2026) - The Red River Athletic Conference congratulates LSU Alexandria, Our Lady of the Lake (Texas), and Texas A&M-Texarkana for securing spots in the Opening Round of the 45th Annual NAIA Softball National Championship, held May 11-14. All in all, the field includes 29 automatic qualifiers, including LSUA, the RRAC regular-season champion, and OLLU, the RRAC postseason champion. Nineteen other teams earned at-large berths, including TAMUT. The 48-team slate will take place across 10 campus sites in a double-elimination format, with the aim of qualifying for the 10-team World Series. The tournament consists of eight five-team brackets and two four-team brackets, with the winning teams advancing to the final site in Columbus, Ga., from May 21-27.
 
History
 
LSUA has appeared in the most NAIA National Championships, with nine, including 2014-2017, 2019, and 2024-2026. The Generals were opening-round hosts four times from 2014-2017, and they went on to the NAIA Softball World Series three times in 2014, 2015, and 2017. 
 
OLLU competed in the nationals opening round six times: 2014, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. The Saints reached the World Series in 2023 and won the championship in 2024.
 
The Eagles are making their third appearance at the opening round of nationals. Their previous appearances were in 2022 and 2025.
 
The Generals were picked to finish first in the conference with 99 first-place votes and were the No. 13 team in the NAIA Softball Coaches' Top 25 Poll. TAMUT was voted second and ranked No. 22 in the NAIA, and OLLU was picked third, with the Saints ranked No. 12. Throughout the season, the three teams remained in the top four in conference wins, and the three held on to undefeated records through March 20, when the Generals suffered their first loss (9-1). TAMUT fell twice to LSUA, ending its winning streak on March 21 (10-2). OLLU continued to dominate through the first of April, when the Saints lost their first two conference games since April 11, 2025, to LSUA (17-2).
Team Accomplishments / Opening Round Match-Ups
 
LSUA finished the regular season as champs with a 23-4 record, and the Generals are currently 34-16 overall. OLLU placed second in the RRAC with a 22-5 record, and the Saints are now 39-10. TAMUT came in third with a conference record of 21-5, and the Eagles are now 37-14.

TEXAS A&M-TEXARKANA, as the second seed, will compete in the Ashland, Ore., bracket. This bracket consists of five teams: top-seed Southern Oregon, second-seed TAMUT, third-seed Saint Francis (Ind.), fourth-seed Dordt (Iowa), and fifth-seed OUAZ (Ariz.). TAMUT is scheduled to play the second game on May 11 at 1:30 p.m. With a win, the Eagles advance to play at 1:30 p.m. on May 12; with a loss, they will play at 11 a.m.
 
The Eagles scored their most runs in their third game of the season against Texas Wesleyan, 19-5. They allowed just seven hits, while tallying 16 in that game.
 
TAMUT's First-Team winners Mackenzie Williams (.465 average, 60 hits, 13 sacrifices, 18 steals) and Kamryn Walker (144 at-bats, 44 runs, 12 doubles) were key contributors. Rylee Glenn (15-4, 112 strikeouts, 2.06 ERA, four shutouts) and Alexis Snyder (12-6, 59 strikeouts) led the Eagles' pitching.
 
LSU ALEXANDRIA, the second seed, will compete in the Chickasha, Ore., bracket. The participating teams are top-seed USAO (Okla.), second-seed LSUA, third-seed College of Idaho, fourth-seed Morningside (Iowa), and fifth-seed Friends (Kan.). LSUA faces the College of Idaho at 3 p.m. If the Generals lose, they will play on May 12 at 12 p.m.; a win moves them to 3 p.m.
 
LSUA has 317 RBIs, is in the top ten in doubles and triples nationally, and has shut out RRAC series opponents five times.
 
Kaetlyn Dunbar (RRAC Player of the Year) and Kilee Moody (Defensive Player of the Year) led the Generals' offense and defense, each batting over .400 and ranking among team and conference leaders in several categories. Moody had 49 defensive outs in 53 chances.
 
Lainee Bailey, RRAC Co-Pitcher of the Year, finished 17-6 with a 1.91 ERA and 110 strikeouts.
 
OUR LADY OF THE LAKE (TEXAS), the second seed, will compete in the Klamath Falls, Ore., bracket, which features five teams: top-seed Oregon Tech, second-seed OLLU, third-seed St. Thomas (Fla.), fourth-seed Arizona Christian, and fifth-seed Dickinson State (N.D.). OLLU will play St. Thomas at 1:30 p.m. With a loss, the Saints will play the next day at 11 a.m.; with a win, they play at 1:30 p.m. on May 12.
 
Toward the early days of the season, the Saints went on a nine-game winning streak. OLLU swept six conference series and posted clean sheets in 11 games.  
 
Senior Annika Litterio, RRAC Co-Pitcher of the Year, has the third-most wins in the NAIA, leading the league with a 1.84 ERA, 167 innings, 156 strikeouts, and a 1.07 WHIP over 36 appearances.
 
Boston Tijerina and Arianna Alejandro powered OLLU's offense. Alejandro, a First-Team recipient, tallied 56 hits, 54 runs, and a .434 average in 129 at-bats, adding 36 RBIs and 25 extra-base hits. Tijerina is among the RRAC leaders in RBIs.
