TAMUT's Caputo, LCU's Linn earn RRAC Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week

WACO, Texas (April 20, 2026) – An outstanding performance from Texas A&M-Texarkana's Michael Caputo has garnered him RRAC Baseball Player of the Week honors, while No. 20 Louisiana Christian's Kade Linn turned in a dominant outing to win Pitcher of the Week for April 13-19. This is the 13th set of weekly winners for the 2026 RRAC baseball season. 

RRAC Baseball Player of the Week – Michael Caputo – Texas A&M-Texarkana 

Junior outfielder Michael Caputo put together a strong week at the plate for the Eagles. He went 4-for-4 in the Eagles' record-setting performance against Arkansas Baptist. He tallied five runs, four hits, a double, and three RBIs. 

Caputo led his team to a nonconference, NAIA-tying-record 45-0 victory over Arkansas Baptist. 

In the Eagles' three-game series against Xavier (La.), Caputo went 3-for-4, adding five runs, a home run, two RBIs, and a walk. He also stole two bases. TAMUT defeated XULA 13-1, 15-5, and 11-5. 

Caputo's stat line is 129 at-bats, 48 runs, 36 hits, four doubles, four home runs, 33 RBIs, 54 total bases, .429 slugging percentage, 29 walks, .444 on-base percentage, 15 stolen bases, and 58 total bases. 

The Eagles lead the RRAC with 1,560 at-bats, 504 runs, 110 doubles, 440 RBIs, and are second with 48 triples, 298 walks, 143 stolen bases, .326 batting average, .451 on-base percentage, and .507 slugging percentage. TAMUT is 27-23 overall and 14-13 in conference. The Eagles are sixth in the conference.

RRAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week – Kade Linn – Louisiana Christian 

Graduate student right-handed pitcher Kade Linn shut down the RRAC's best and NAIA's ninth-best batting team in terms of average, and second-best in the RRAC and NAIA's sixth-best team in terms of scoring, holding No. 9 LSUS to just four hits and no runs as the Wildcats won game one 3-0 on their way to winning the series over the Pilots. He struck out eight LSUS hitters in the win. 

Linn is fourth in the RRAC with a 9-1 record and a .270 ERA. In his conference-leading 14 appearances, he pitched 66.2 innings, allowing 51 hits, 25 runs, 20 unearned runs, 21 walks, 91 strikeouts, two home runs, and a WHIP of 1.08. This is Linn's third pitcher of the week award this season. 

LCU leads the conference with 10 fewest losses and 384 strikeouts. The Wildcats are fourth in the conference with a 19-8 record and 34-10 overall. They are ranked No. 20 in the latest NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll.

RRAC Notebook:

  • LCU R-freshman Drake Aldridge hit .333 with four RBIs and scored once as LCU won the series over No. 7 LSUS. He had the key hit in game two of the series as his RBI single in the bottom of the third inning of Friday's nightcap proved to be the deciding run in a 3-2 LCU win as the Wildcats swept Friday's twin bill to take the series over the Pilots.
  • USW senior outfielder Alesandro Morrison contributed significantly all-around to securing the series, 1-6, 8-7, and 18-12. He went 5-for 11, adding a double and two RBIs.
  • LSUA sophomore infielder Landon Langley guided the Generals to a 2-1 series win over OLLU. He went 6-for-14, adding three runs, two doubles, and four RBIs,
  • LSUS senior infielder Carlos Vega delivered an outstanding week at the plate for the Pilots, hitting .500 (7-for-14) with a .533 on-base percentage and .786 slugging percentage. He totaled five runs, three RBIs, one double, and one home run, while striking out just three times in 15 plate appearances. In conference play, Vega elevated his performance even further, batting .600 (6-for-10) with a .900 slugging percentage. Vega's week was highlighted by a dominant effort in the Pilots' 19-8 win over LCU, where he went 5-for-6 with three runs scored, three RBIs, and a home run, accounting for eight total bases. He also contributed defensively with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
  • TAMUV freshman catcher Beck Zimmerman went 6-for-13 in his team's series against USW. He added a run, two doubles, and five RBIs.
  • USW senior right-handed pitcher Alesandro Morrison earned one win and one save for the weekend in his team's 2-1 series against TAMUV.
  • TAMUT R-junior Colton Sims secured a 13-1 win against XULA. He pitched six innings, while striking out seven.
  • OLLU freshman Manuel Flores pitched a 10-1 complete game against Huston-Tillotson (Texas). He struck out five. He also pitched 6.2 innings in a no-decision game against LSUA, adding two strikeouts.
  • LSUA sophomore Colin Ardoin secured an 8-2 win over OLLU after pitching eight innings and striking out two.
  • TAMUV senior right-handed pitcher Jonathan Jones became the third Jaguar in the last three years to eclipse 10 wins in a season. His win helped TAMUV seal its first-ever RRAC Regular-Season title. Jones pitched a complete seven innings to secure the 6-1 win, while striking out six.
