LCU's Vordick, TAMUT's Hart named RRAC Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week

WACO, Texas (April 13, 2026) – No. 19 Louisiana Christian's Gavin Vordick and Texas A&M-Texarkana's Matthew Hart have won the latest RRAC baseball weekly honors, named Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for the week of April 6-12. This is the 12th set of weekly winners for the 2026 RRAC baseball season.

RRAC Baseball Player of the Week – Gavin Vordick – No. 19 Louisiana Christian

R-sophomore outfielder Gavin Vordick was tough to keep off the bases as he got six hits in 10 at-bats over the weekend, getting two hits in each game of the series against LSU Alexandria. Both of his hits in Saturday's first game were home runs, while he got a double in both of the other two games of the series. Vordick marked a slugging percentage of 1.400 against the Generals. He also tallied 3-of-4 putouts.

On the season, Vordick's stat line is as follows: .339 avg., 1.011 ops., 59 at-bats, 18 runs, 20 hits, five doubles, three home runs, 18 RBIs, 34 total bases, .576 slg., .435 obp., and three stolen bases. On defense, he has 18 putouts, for a .950 fld.

The Wildcats are 32-9 overall and 17-7 in the RRAC for fifth place. They are No. 19 in the NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll.

RRAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week – Matthew Hart – Texas A&M-Texarkana

TAMUT R-sophomore right-handed pitcher Matthew Hart was a force to be reckoned with on the mound against No. 4 LSUS, when the Eagles took game one 8-5. Hart pitched six innings, striking out three batters, allowing no hits, and only one run. Hart set the Eagles up for success so the closers could secure the victory, earning the Eagles yet another ranked win this season.

Hart has appeared in 11 games, with nine as a starter. He pitched in 30 innings, while striking out 33.

The Eagles are 22-23 on the season and 11-13 for sixth place in the RRAC. They are sixth in the RRAC with an ERA of 6.95 and have accumulated 326 strikeouts.

RRAC Notebook:

  • LSUA outfielder Dalton Wilson had at least one RBI in each game against No. 19 LCU. He was hit by a pitch three times, up to 27 on the season, and he recorded an extra-base hit in two games.
  • TAMUT junior infielder Agmar Donatto recorded a hit in every game the Eagles played this week, which included a series against the No. 4-ranked Pilots of LSUS. Donatto recorded a home run in two of the Eagles' three games against the Pilots and drove in four RBIs on the weekend (three in the Eagles' victory). In the Shreveport series, he had a .417 avg., a .462 obp., and a .917 slg. Additionally, he recorded a perfect fielding percentage in conference play.
  • LSUS junior Carlos Sanchez put together an outstanding week at the plate, leading the Pilots in a key conference series against TAMUT. He hit .429 in conference play, going 6-for-14 with two home runs, a double, and seven RBIs while posting a .929 slugging percentage. He delivered his biggest performance in the series finale, going 4-for-5 with three runs scored, a home run, and three RBIs to power an LSUS victory. Sanchez also came through in a clutch moment earlier in the series with a go-ahead grand slam, accounting for four RBIs in the contest. Defensively, he was just as reliable, recording a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in conference play with 22 chances.
  • OLLU sophomore utility Drew Saucedo led his team to a 3-0 series win over Jarvis Christian (Texas). He went 3-for-8, adding eight runs, two doubles, six RBIs, and seven walks.
  • XULA senior first baseman Kai Higginson, who is his team's most potent power hitter, had his best weekend of the season, going 3-for-7 (.428 average) with two home runs and six RBIs in a weekend conference series against USW. He had a .555 obp.
  • USW senior outfielder Alesandro Morrison led his team to a series win over XULA. He went 4-for-12, adding three runs, a double, a home run, and three RBIs.
  • TAMUV freshman catcher Beck Zimmerman had eight RBIs over four games last week as the Jaguars outscored their opponents 51-11 to move two wins away from their first-ever RRAC regular-season title.
  • LCU senior right-handed pitcher Colton Williams got all six LSUA batters he faced out, three by strikeout, to slam the door shut and preserve the game one 11-6 win for LCU.
  • LSUA senior right-handed pitcher Carter Fabre tossed 6.2 innings of quality pitching against No. 19 LCU in a 13-3 win. He struck out seven.
  • LSUS senior right-handed pitcher Brock Lucas delivered a dominant outing on the mound, leading the Pilots to an 8-1 victory over Texas A&M–Texarkana. He tossed a complete game, allowing just one run on four hits across seven innings while striking out nine and issuing no walks.
  • OLLU junior right-handed pitcher Ethan Garza earned the 18-7 win over JCU. He pitched three innings without allowing a hit or run, while striking out four.
  • USW freshman right-handed pitcher Major Bird pitched a complete game without allowing any earned runs. He secured the 12-2 win over XULA.
  • TAMUV senior right-handed pitcher Jonathan Jones secured his ninth win of the season, which is tied for the NAIA lead. He pitched six innings and struck out five in the team's 10-2 win over Texas College.
