LCU's Callejo, Xavier's Suarez capture RRAC Tennis Player of the Week awards

WACO, Texas (March 23, 2026) – The RRAC congratulates Women's Tennis Player of the Week No. 15 Louisiana Christian's Valeria Callejo and Men's Tennis Player of the Week No. 9 Xavier's (La.) Nereo Suarez for the dates of March 16-22. This is the sixth set of weekly winners for the 2026 RRAC tennis season.

RRAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week – Valeria Callejo – No. 15 Louisiana Christian

LCU junior Valeria Callejo and partner Raquel Rodriguez defeated (RV-29)LSUS Sara Sofia Sanchez Molano and Lucia Lucas 6-3. Callejo beat No. 66-ranked Ana Julia De Paula Mandrot 6-2, 6-4. The Wildcats defeated the Pilots 6-1.

Callejo is a native of Madrid, Spain.

LCU is ranked No. 15 in the NAIA Women's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll. The Wildcats are 9-3 overall this season.

RRAC Male Tennis Player of the Week – Nereo Suarez – No. 9 Xavier (La.)

Senior Nereo Suarez went 1-0 as a singles and doubles player. In XULA's only match of the week, he won 6-1 over No. 5 Missouri Baptist. Suarez defeated Luca Ebenriter, the No. 28 singles player in the nation, 6-3, 7-6 (7) at No. 1 singles. He partnered with Christian Sanchez to defeat Ebenriter and Sebastian Junghanns, the No. 5 doubles team in the country, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. Suarez is currently ranked as the No. 7 singles player in the NAIA.

Suarez, partnered with Ivan Vazquez, is the No. 3-ranked doubles team in the nation. He is a native of Santa Fe, Argentina. This is his second player of the week award.

XULA is 10-5 overall. The Gold Rush is ranked No. 9 in the NAIA Men's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll.

• TAMUT freshman Lucia Siddens won her singles match against Sterling's (Kan.) Hannah Giordanelli 6-0, 6-1. Siddens and partner Ana Paola Gonzalez Dominguez defeated Arizona Christian's Ana Alvarez and Eloise Diligent 6-2. Siddens also won her singles match against Alvarez 6-4, 6-3.
• XULA senior McKenna Wheatley went 2-0 at No. 1 singles and 2-0 as No. 1 doubles this week. Against Missouri Baptist, Wheatley and Maja Brnic defeated Melissa Jangarasheva and Yvonne Shannon 6-2, and Wheatley defeated Yvonne Shannon 6-2, 6-0. Against LSUS, Wheatley and Brnic defeated Ana Julia De Paula Mandrot and Lidia Gomez 6-0, and Wheatley defeated Mandrot 6-3, 6-0.
• OLLU freshman Carolina Guerrero paired with Michaela Muller to win against Dallas' Kathleen Roset and Avery Williams 6-0. She defeated Williams in singles 6-0, 6-2.
• TAMUT sophomore Alvaro Tormo Lopez and partner Lawson Swain won their doubles match against Sterling's (Kan.) Cassidy Kelly and Ibrahim Curtis-Kaduma 6-0. Lopez won his singles match against Kelly 6-0, 6-0.
• OLLU graduate student Jacob Gailey paired with Caleb Olen defeated Cayven Yi and Cristian Delira from the University of Dallas (Texas) 6-3. Gailey won his singles match against Delira 6-1, 6-2.
