Xavier's Suarez and Brnic win RRAC Tennis Players of the Week

WACO, Texas (March 9, 2026) – Ninth-ranked Xavier's (La.) Nereo Suarez has been selected as RRAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week and Maja Brnic as Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the dates of March 2-8. This is the fourth set of weekly winners for the 2026 RRAC tennis season.

RRAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week – Nereo Suarez – (9) Xavier (La.)

XULA's 4-0 victory over (11) Our Lady of the Lake (Texas), senior Nereo Suarez and freshman partner Christian Sanchez defeated senior Jaroslav Majsajdr and sophomore Bastien Prod'Homme 5-3. Suarez beat freshman Gabriel Nogueira 6-1, 6-1, in his singles match.

XULA defeated (12) Dillard (La.) 4-0. In doubles, Suarez and Sanchez crushed sophomore Siddarth Arya Sangheeth and senior Jesus Rodriguez 6-1. Suarez won a close singles match against Rodriguez 7-5, 6-1.

In the ITA, Suarez and Ivan Vazquez are ranked fifth in doubles, and Suarez is ranked fourth in singles.

Freshman Suarez is a native of Argentina.

XULA is 7-4 overall. The Gold Rush is ranked No. 9 in the most recent NAIA Men's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll. XULA is 10th in the ITA.

RRAC Female Tennis Player of the Week – Maja Brnic – (6) Xavier (La.)

Maja Brnic led XULA to a 4-0 win over (16) Dillard (La.). She and partner McKenna Wheatley won their doubles match against Danielle Pitchlyn and Yiran Chen 6-0. She won her singles match against Weichiao Chen 6-4, 7-6, 2-0.

She also led the Gold Nuggets to a 4-0 victory over (17) OLLU. In her doubles match with McKenna against Anja Pisar and Maéva Chambon, they won 6-1. She marked a win in singles over Carolina Guerrero 6-3, 6-1.

Freshman Brnic is a native of Croatia. In ITA singles, she is ranked 12th, and she and McKenna are ranked fourth in doubles.

XULA is ranked sixth in the ITA and sixth in the most recent NAIA Women's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll.

• TAMUT freshman Fedier Zalievskyi won his singles match against Collin County CC: 7-5, 3-6, 6-3; Bethany (Kan.): 6-2, 2-1; and Southwestern (Kan.): 6-3, 6-0. In doubles, he won 6-2 against Collin and 6-1 against Southwestern, and he lost his doubles match to Bethany 5-7.
• OLLU freshman Corentin Fusaro won his singles match against Dillard 6-4, 6-1.
• TAMUT freshman Zahra Dreyer-Ferreira won her doubles match against Bethany 6-1, and her singles match 6-1, 6-0. She won her doubles against Southwestern 6-0 and her singles, 6-0, 6-0.
• LCU senior Valeria Callejo won her doubles match against OLLU 6-2, and her singles match 1-6, 6-2, 6-2.
