Southwest's Molinar and Vidal named RRAC Golfers of the Week

WACO, Texas (March 9, 2026) – Southwest sweeps the RRAC Golfers of the Week – Jorge Molinar III as Men's Golfer of the Week and Sophia Vidal as Women's Golfer of the Week for the dates of March 2-9. This is the third set of the weekly awards for the spring season.

RRAC Women's Golfer of the Week – Sophia Vidal – Southwest (N.M.)  

At the Club at Comanche Trace in Kerrville, Texas, sophomore Sophia Vidal led the Mustangs at the 2026 Schreiner Shootout last week. Over 36 holes, USW finished at +124, posting rounds of +66 and +58 to secure fourth place ahead of two other institutions and behind three other schools. Vidal earned a 12th-place finish at +25 among a slate of 37 golfers. After an 87 first round, she improved to 82 in the second round.

Vidal is a native of El Paso, Texas.

OLLU is ranked No. 82 in the Scoreboard NAIA rankings.  Vidal is ranked No. 361 over 900 individuals in the NAIA.

RRAC Men's Golfer of the Week – Jorge Molinar III – Southwest (N.M.)

Jorge Molinar III led the Mustangs to a first-place finish at the Schreiner Shootout last week. In 36 holes, USW tallied a +23, with rounds of +10 and +13 to secure the tournament trophy ahead of six other institutions. USW outpaced Concordia (Texas), Our Lady of the Lake (Texas), St. Thomas (Texas), Schreiner, McMurry (Texas), and the University of Dallas. Molinar captured the individual title after posting a first-round -1 and second-round +3 for a final +2.

Molinar, a freshman, is a native of Andrews, Texas.

USW is ranked No. 47 in the Scoreboard NAIA rankings.  Molinar is ranked No. 138 among more than 1,000 NAIA golfers.
