RRAC Baseball Player of the Week Landon Hunt (LSUS) joins Pitcher of the Week Blane Zeplin (TAMUV) in the week's honors

WACO, Texas (March 9, 2026) – Following a stellar week, the RRAC named (1) LSU Shreveport's Landon Hunt as Baseball Player of the Week, while Texas A&M-Victoria's Blane Zeplin repeats as Pitcher of the Week for the dates March 3-8. This is the seventh set of weekly winners for the 2026 RRAC baseball season.


RRAC Baseball Player of the Week – Landon Hunt – (1) LSU Shreveport

Landon Hunt turned in a historic week at the plate, highlighted by hitting for the cycle in the Pilots' 25-1 run-rule victory over Jarvis Christian on March 6. Hunt went a perfect 5-for-5 in the game with two doubles, a triple, a home run, five RBIs, and four runs scored, becoming just the second player in LSUS baseball history to hit for the cycle. For the week, Hunt batted .500 (9-for-18) with six runs scored, nine RBIs, and five extra-base hits, posting a .550 on-base percentage and .944 slugging percentage. He also added three stolen bases while helping power the Pilots during their conference-opening series.

So far in the season, Hunt's stats are 32-for-74 for a batting average of .432, 23 runs, five doubles, three triples, 15 RBIs, 14 stolen bases, 17 putouts, and 13 assists.

LSUS is ranked first in the NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll released last week. The Pilots are 21-3 overall and 9-0 in conference.

RRAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week – Blane Zeplin – Texas A&M-Victoria

Senior right-handed pitcher Blane Zeplin helped the Jaguars complete an emphatic sweep of TAMUT last week. The Victoria, Texas, native struck out a career-high 11 batters during a complete-game effort in the Jaguars' 9-4 win in game two. It was the third time this season Zeplin has reached 10+ strikeouts, and he is now tied for second in wins (5) and strikeouts (45) in the RRAC.

Zeplin's season stats are five wins, one loss, 36 innings pitched, 45 strikeouts, and a 3.00 ERA. This is Zeplin's third Pitcher of the Week award.

TAMUV received 12 votes in the most current NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll. The Jaguars are 16-9 overall and 7-2 in conference.

RRAC Notebook:

  • TAMUV junior infielder Garrett Smith found a groove this week for the Jaguars, hitting safely in all four games and helping the Jaguars sweep TAMUT by driving in eight runs. The Katy, Texas, native mashed three home runs over the first two games against the Eagles, including two in a 9-4 win in game two. He now ranks second in the RRAC in home runs (7) and fifth in RBIs (26).
  • TAMUT senior outfielder Jayce Blalock had a weekend against TAMUV, hitting four home runs, with seven RBIs. Blalock had a .357 batting average on the week with five hits and five runs.
  • LCU junior outfielder went 8-for-13 in his team's series against USW. He led his team to 13-9 and 26-8 wins. He added six runs, a triple, a home run and a stolen base.
  • LSUA freshman catcher Trevor Dooley drove in nine runs across three wins against Xavier (La.). He recorded at least one hit in every game and had two multi-hit games. Dooley also stole a base in each of the three games.
  • USW junior catcher JJ Rosales hit two home runs in his team's series against LCU. He went 4-for-9, adding six RBIs. He also recorded 22 putouts out of 23 chances.
  • OLLU senior catcher Diego Zuniga led his team to a 15-5 win against TAMUV and 4-0 and 22-0 wins against Texas College. Zuniga went 6-for-10, adding four doubles, a home run, and three walks. He also posted 20 putouts out of 22, adding two assists.
  • LSUA senior right-handed pitcher Carter Fabre threw eight innings for a 5-1 win over XULA. He allowed only one unearned run on four hits, and he struck out nine. He pitched six innings before a lightning delay halted the game for 33 minutes, and he came back and tossed two shutout innings.
  • OLLU senior right-handed pitcher Donovan Gamez pitched seven innings in his team's 4-0 win over TXC. He allowed five hits, none earned, while walking four and striking out eight.
  • LSUS senior right-handed pitcher Brock Lucas delivered a strong outing, throwing a seven-inning complete game in a 15–4 conference victory over JCU. Lucas allowed just three hits and zero earned runs while striking out nine and walking only one. Despite allowing four runs in the game, none were earned against Lucas. He finished the week with a 0.00 ERA, 0.57 WHIP, and 11.57 strikeouts per nine innings.
  • USW senior right-handed pitcher Miguel Olivas took a no-hitter into the seventh inning and allowed two hits and one run to secure the 6-1 win against LCU.
  • LCU R-sophomore right-handed pitcher Owen Simoneaux posted a 26-8 win over USW. He pitched 3.2 innings, allowing seven hits and six runs, while striking out eight.
  • TAMUT freshman right-handed pitcher Tiernon Wolf pitched 3.1 innings in his team's 12-10 win over Wiley (Texas) and 16-6 loss to TAMUV. He struck out four.
