The Road to the 2026 RRAC Women’s Basketball Championship narrows – semifinals finalized
WACO, Texas (Feb. 25, 2026) – Four teams remain in the 2026 RRAC Women's Basketball Tournament, and the semifinals are locked in with Texas A&M-San Antonio, Texas A&M-Texarkana, Xavier (La.), and LSU Shreveport.
Second-seed TAMUSA advanced by defeating seventh-seed Texas College, 92-74. Third-seed TAMUT knocked off sixth-seed North Texas-Dallas, 72-59. Fourth-seed XULA eliminated fifth-seed LSU Alexandria, 66-55. Top-seed LSUS played its game on Tuesday, defeating eighth-seed Our Lady of the Lake (Texas), 84-41.
TAMUSA dominated three quarters, ending the half with a 43-29 lead over TXC. The second half proved more competitive with the Steers dropping the third 22-27 and sneaking by the Jaguars in the final quarter 23-22. The late surge by the Steers came up short as the Jaguars secured the 92-74 lead.
TXC made 22-of-70 field goals and 28-of-38 free throws. The Steers tallied 56 rebounds, 14 assists, nine steals, and two blocks. They were led by three players scoring in double digits – Rakia Lee scored 20, Jakairi Blacknell added 17 points, and Keiera tallied 10 points. Taryanna McNary grabbed 13 rebounds. TXC ends the season with an overall 10-19 record.
TAMUSA posted 25-of-74 field goals, 33-of-44 free throws, 55 rebounds, 16 assists, nine steals, and five blocks. Starters Evelyn Lorenzo recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 assists, and Hailee Brandon scored 18 points. Off the bench, Jada Turner added 16 points, nine rebounds, three steals, and four blocks. Kierra Sanderlin contributed 13 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
The Jaguars, 22-7, will face TAMUT in the semifinal round. They are hoping to sweep TAMUT this season, after defeating the Eagles 69-61 and 81-79 in the regular season. The two teams will play at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28.
TAMUT, currently 20-9, kept UNTD to five points in the first quarter, and the teams went into the locker room at halftime with the Eagles leading 39-20. UNTD returned with renewed energy in the second quarter, adding 20 points, while TAMUT scored four more. The Trailblazers dominated the Eagles in the final period, limiting them to just nine points, while scoring 19. The score difference was too much to overcome for the Trailblazers, giving the Eagles the 72-59 victory.
UNTD starter De'Asia Johnson contributed a game-high 26 points after grabbing 9-of-21 field goals and 7-of-8 free throws. She also led her team with eight rebounds and six steals. The team posted 20-of-50 from the field, 17-of-29 from the free throw line, 44 rebounds, nine assists, 12 steals, and seven blocks. The Trailblazers end their season with an 11-14 record.
Two starters and two off the bench scored in double figures for the Eagles. Breyionce George scored 15 points, and Imani Rothschild added 11. Reserves Maiya Petit added 11 points, and Unique McBride tallied 10. The team's totals are as follows: 27-of-76 from the field, 13-of-22 from the charity stripe, 45 rebounds, 12 assists, and 19 steals.
XULA, now 19-10, started the game with a 13-8 first quarter. The second and third quarters featured LSUA leading by one point, 14-13 and 19-18, respectively. The Gold Nuggets' 22-14 final quarter gave them the 66-55 win.
Three starters for the Generals scored in double digits – Princis Goff and Justice Young with 13 points, and Sydney Person with 10. Person and Young added seven rebounds, and Reese Stephens tallied eight assists.
LSUA posted 18-of-59 field goals, 18-of-28 free throws, 38 rebounds, 12 assists, and eight blocks. The Generals end their season with a 14-14 overall record.
Alicia Blanton led the Gold Nuggets off the bench with a double-double - 14 points, 18 rebounds, and three assists. The team posted 22-of-69 field goals, 20-of-26 free throws, 56 rebounds, 14 assists, seven assists, and seven blocks.
XULA and top-seed LSUS will play in the semifinal round on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Pilots swept the regular season against the Gold Nuggets, 65-55 and 73-65.
