RRAC Concludes 2025 Fall Season, Winter 2025-2026 Season Underway

WACO, Texas (Dec. 7, 2025) – The RRAC concludes the fall 2025 season with outstanding performances from cross country, soccer, and volleyball teams. Teams from four member schools qualified for NAIA National Tournament competitions, while eight individuals also advanced to the national stage. Participating teams included Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) - men's and women's cross country; Texas A&M-Texarkana - volleyball; Xavier (La.) - men's and women's soccer; LSU Shreveport - men's soccer; and individuals included seven from TAMUT and one from Southwest (N.M.) in cross country.


Men's Cross Country

OLLU men's cross-country has dominated the conference's long-distance meets for the last 11 consecutive seasons, winning 10 (one title was revoked after the team was disqualified for an ineligible player).

The team placed 34th at nationals in Tallahassee, Fla., last month in the 8k, while OLLU's Isai Moran captured the individual title in the 8K, securing 85th place out of a slate of 323 runners with a time of 25:47.7. Other OLLU finishes included Joseph Gonzalez for 236th place with a time of 27:01.2; Damon Gutierrez for 254th place with a time of 27:17.9; Sabastian Moreno for 279th place with a time of 27:59.0; Joel Telles for 292nd place with a time of 28:30.6; Tony Favella for 298th place with a time of 29:06.0; and Jose Saucedo for 308th place with a time of 30:15.4

Head Coach Aaron Stallworth and multiple men's cross-country champion Assistant Coach Jose Zarate lead the team.

Individual qualifiers from TAMUT included Chapman White, who finished in 264th place with a time of 27:25.7; Gideon Kiptoo finished in 281st place with a time of 28:01.1; Levi Wagner came in 288th place with a time of 28:14.3; and Terrance Toliver came in 295th place with a time of 28:59.5. David Lawrence coaches the Texarkana team.


Women's Cross Country

Just like the men's team, OLLU women's cross-country has dominated the conference, winning 11 of the last 13 championships, including seven straight titles.

At nationals in Tallahassee, Fla., the team placed 28th out of 36 teams, marking the Saints' best-ever finish. Kristen Torres also had the best individual finish in team history, finishing 74th in 22:39.2. Other OLLU finishers included Mia Curiel for 137th place with a time of 23:14.0; Liliana Hernandez for 169th place with a time of 23:30.6; Zaddie Santa Cruz for 185th place with a time of 23:42.7; Leilani Leza for 282nd place with a time of 25:12.1; Dayla Vega for 295th place with a time of 25:50.79; and Victoria Bartlett for 306th place with a time of 27:03.6.

Individual qualifiers from TAMUT included Kayla Reeves, who placed 173rd with a time of 23:33.4; Zalenka Brannan placed 222nd with a time of 24:09.0; and Dana Ruiz placed 304th with a time of 26:58.3. Lawrence also coaches the women's team.

Elianna Saenz from USW placed 307th with a time of 27:04.4. She is coached by Gabrielle Arsiaga.


Men's Soccer

RRAC tournament third-seed XULA defeated top-seed and regular-season champion LSUS, and both teams advanced to the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship tournament.

XULA's historic season ended in the opening round against the University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) in Williamsburg, Ky. The Gold Rush fell 1-0 and finished the season with a final overall record of 13-5-2. XULA, in only its third year, made its second consecutive appearance in the national tournament. Head Coach Lucas Cordeiro leads the team.

The Pilots, led by Head Coach Adam Kay, opened their national run in the second round at home against Faulkner (Ala.). LSUS advanced to the final site after a dramatic 3-2 victory over Faulkner. The team was down by two at halftime, but the Pilots regrouped and scored in the 48th minute. At the 89th minute, the Pilots scored the equalizer, sending the game into overtime. In the extra period, the Pilots completed the comeback with a goal at the 96th minute to seal the 3-2 win, giving them the opportunity to move on to the Round of 16, where the Pilots met Warner Pacific University (Ore.) at the national final site in Orange Beach, Ala.

LSUS and Warner ended the competition with a 1-1 tie after two overtime periods. The Knights prevailed 4-3 in a penalty shootout to advance. The Pilots concluded the season with a 14-3-5 overall record.


Women's Soccer

Second-seed XULA captured the RRAC postseason title for the second consecutive year after defeating top-seed and regular-season champ LSUS 2-0. The Gold Nuggets began their national tournament run against Campbellsville (Ky.) in Hattiesburg, Miss. This marked the team's third consecutive year advancing to the national stage. The Gold Nuggets overpowered Campbellsville 2-1 and advanced to the second round to play William Carey (Miss.), the NAIA's top-ranked team.

Xavier fought hard but came up just short in a 2-0 loss to the Crusaders. The Gold Nuggets, led by Head Coach Ashley Cordeiro, ended their season 12-3-4.


Volleyball

TAMUT, the RRAC's No. 1 seed and regular-season champion, defeated second seed OLLU to capture the RRAC postseason tournament. The Eagles left both their postseason opponents – Louisiana Christian and OLLU – scoreless to secure the program's first-ever berth to nationals.

The Eagles traveled to Santa Clarita, Calif., to face the No. 11-ranked The Master's (Calif.) in the opening round. The teams battled through four competitive sets before ultimately falling 3-1. The Eagles, led by Madeleine Halford, concluded the season with an overall 25-7 record.


What's next

The RRAC began the 2025-2026 men's and women's hoops season last month and will continue competition through March. The RRAC Basketball Tournaments Opening Rounds will take place Feb. 24-25 at campus sites, and the final rounds will be held at the Laborde Earles Coliseum in Alexandria, La., from Feb. 28-March 1, hosted by LSU Alexandria.

Several teams are currently participating in indoor track and field, which is not one of the conference's sponsored sports. However, the outdoor track and field season begins in mid-spring, with the conference championships taking place at Tad Gormley Stadium in New Orleans, hosted by XULA, in late April.

RRAC women's tennis also begins its season in the spring, with the conference championship hosted by XULA in late April. Men's tennis will compete in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

RRAC men's golf begins its season in early spring. The tournament will be sponsored by the University of the Southwest in Hobbs, N.M. Women's golf will compete in the Continental Athletic Conference, and Southwest will also host the tournament.

Softball kicks off its season in early spring. Louisiana Christian will host the postseason tournament in Pineville, La., and LSUA in Alexandria, La., April 30-May 3.

The baseball season starts in early spring, as well. The postseason tournament is slated for April 24-25 at campus sites and at the final site in Sterlington, La., from May 1-3.
