LSU Shreveport's Jack Thomas, LSUA's Ivan Capurro Selected as RRAC Men's Soccer Players of the Week

WACO, Texas (Oct. 20, 2025) – The Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) has announced Jack Thomas from LSU-Shreveport (La.) as the RRAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Oct. 13-19, while Ivan Capurro from LSU-Alexandria (La.) is the RRAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the same dates.


RRAC Offensive Player of the Week – Jack Thomas (LSU-Shreveport)
Thomas, a senior midfielder, had a stellar week for the Pilots as they finished 2-0 for the week. He had four goals in LSUS' clean sheet against Jarvis Christian University (Hawkins) and a hat trick against Texas A&M University - Texarkana (Texarkana). Thomas also captured the LSUS career assist record with his two-assist week to have 20.

Additional offensive player of the week nominatees include Ben McCarron (LSUA), Jose Narvaez (TAMUT), Jose Carlos Dos Santos (NAU) and Nicolas Murgas (OLLU).


RRAC Defensive Player of the Week – Ivan Capurro (LSU-Alexandria)
Freshman keeper Capurro recorded back-to-back clean sheets, bringing his consecutive streak to three. He has a total of five clean sheets on the year. He led his team to 3-0 wins over North American University (Houston) and Texas A&M University – Victoria (Victoria). LSUA improves to 12-1-1 overall and 7-0-1 in conference. NAU drops to 4-6-2 overall and 3-4-2 in conference, while TAMUV moves to 7-7-1 overall and 3-4-1 in conference.

Capurro has 32 saves on the season with a 12-1-1 record and six shutouts.

Additional defensive player of the week nominees include Pablo Fuentes (LSUS), Favour Eze (TAMUT) and Gino Burioni (NAU).


 

RRAC notebook:

  • LSUA's Ben McCarron notched a pair of game-winning goals against NAU and TAMUV. He scored his first career hat trick at NAU.
  • OLLU forward Nicolas Murgas helped OLLU to a 3-3 tie against the University of the Southwest. Murgas had a hat trick and scored all three goals against USW. OLLU did not play Saturday as the game against Texas College was cancelled.
  • NAU's Jose Carlos Dos Santos' leadership shown this week was amazing earning him a spot back in the starting lineup and following that move up with a goal. He is lauded as keeping his team under control by being a true champion of character.
  • TAMUT midfielder Jose Narvaez netted the equalizer goal that sparked the Eagles' momentum to take down last year's RRAC tournament champion, the Wildcats of Louisiana Christian University and earning the Eagles' first win in program history over LCU. Narvaez proves to be a spark for the Eagles' offense each time he hits the pitch.
