LSU Shreveport's Jade Derks and Alexandria's Fenja Leibner Win This Week's Conference Women's Soccer Players of the Week

WACO, Texas (Oct. 20, 2025) – The Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) announced that Jade Derks of LSU-Shreveport (La.) has been selected as RRAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Oct. 13-19, while Fenja Leibner of LSU-Alexandria (La.) is RRAC Defensive Player of the Week.


RRAC Offensive Player of the Week – Jade Derks - LSU Shreveport
Derks pushed her team to victories over Jarvis Christian University (Texas) and Texas A&M University-Texarkana, which improves the Pilots' record to 9-5 overall and 8-0 in the conference. LSUS sits atop the RRAC.

The Pilots started the week with a match against JCU (1-6/1-10-1) that resulted in a dominating 7-1 win. Derks scored her goal in the 67th minute. The midfielder also led her team in assists with two. She logged three shots, two on goal. LSUS closed out the week with a 3-1 win over TAMUT on Saturday. The game featured a two-hour weather delay with no loss of focus for the Pilots. After two goals, Derks added her own just before halftime leading the team to a 3-0 lead. In the final period, Derks added her ninth goal of the season in the 56th minute. She also led her team in shots with six shots, four on goal.

RRAC Defensive Player of the Week – Fenja Leibner - LSU Alexandria
Leibner contributed to wins over North American University (Texas) and Texas A&M University-Victoria. The Generals are now 9-6 overall and 7-1 in conference, while the Stallions drop to 1-13-1 overall and 1-6-1 in conference, and the Eagles are now

She scored her goal just six minutes into the game. In the 2-0 win over NAU, Leibner additionally logged three shots, two on goal.  The 2-0 win over TAMUV is the Generals' fifth consecutive win. Leibner was credited for anchoring the backline that produced both clean sheets for the week.

RRAC Notebook

  • LSUA defender Fenja Leibner scored the game-winning goal against NAU, her second in three matches. She also anchored a backline which produced two clean sheets on the week.
  • LSUA middle fielder Alexoia Bermejo Jo scored the game-winner against TAMUV and added an assist on LSUA's second goal in a 2-0 win. LSUA has now won five-straight matches
  • LSUS defender Ella White helped anchor the backline for the Pilots this week as they went 2-0. Against TAMUT, she contributed an assist to the 3-1 victory.
  • NAU keeper Arely Sarabia logged 15 saves on the week while being shorthanded and having basketball players fill out the roster leaving her to defend a goal that became a shooting gallery.
  • OLLU keeper Salka Hrafns recorded seven saves against eight shots only allowing one in 55 minutes to lead OLLU to a 5-1 victory. Salka did this as a freshman goalkeeper. Saturday's game against Texas College was postponed.
  • OLLU midfielder Eleonora Diversi had three assists in 5-1 victory in 55 minutes against Southwest. The Texas College game was cancelled.
  • TAMUT forward Delani Chappell anchored the Eagles' defense, helping shut out LCU and holding LSUS to just three goals on 24 attempts.
  • TAMUT middlefielder Lillian Miller scored the Eagles' lone goal against the top-ranked team in the RRAC, LSUS. She continues to fuel the offense by creating scoring opportunities for herself and her teammates.
  • TAMUV center back Cheyenne Grant stepped up to anchor a back line which shutout XULA's league-leading offense on Thursday. It was TAMUV's fifth clean sheet of the season.
  • XULA defender Shakiana Dagher produced a school-record four assists Saturday at NAU. On Thursday at TAMUV, she helped her team become the first RRAC women's soccer team since 2016 to open league play with seven straight defensive shutouts. Dagher played all 90 minutes in both games.
