Xavier's Bain, LCU's Cedeno collect final RRAC tennis weekly awards of 2025

WACO, Texas – Jacobi Bain of Xavier University (La.) garnered the RRAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week award for April 7-13, while Alexandra Cedeno of Louisiana Christian University was named the RRAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the same dates. This is the seventh and final set of weekly winners for the 2025 RRAC tennis season.

Bain, who is the reigning NAIA national player of the week, defeated ranked opponents in both singles and doubles this time around. The senior from Nassau, Bahamas, handled No. 12 Islam Orynbassar of William Carey University (Miss.) in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4, and he teamed with Nereo Suarez to win against WCU in doubles, 6-3. Bain is No. 28 in singles nationally, and the doubles team of Bain-Suarez is No. 13. The Gold Rush lost the match with No. 7 WCU, 4-3. Xavier is 11-8 on the season and ranked eighth nationally.

Cedeno helped the Wildcats secure the biggest ranked win in program history with a 4-3 victory over NAIA No. 9 LSU Alexandria (La.). The sophomore from Caracas, Venezuela, rallied to defeat LSUA's Gianna Panaggio, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, and she won in doubles with teammate Patricia Principal Pineda, 6-3. Cedeno was also one of only two LCU players to win a set against No. 8 Loyola University (La.), falling to Avrora Volkova, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 4-10. The Wildcats are now 10-9 this season with a 3-2 record against RRAC opponents.
