Plata, Galunic capture RRAC women's basketball weekly awards

WACO, Texas – Julia Plata of Our Lady of the Lake University (Texas) was selected as the RRAC Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week for Nov. 25-Dec. 1, while Helena Galunic of LSU Shreveport (La.) was honored as the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week for the same dates. This is the fifth set of weekly awards for the 2024-25 women's basketball season.

Plata led the Saints with 25 points in a 69-62 victory over Texas College on Tuesday. The sophomore guard from San Antonio made 7-of-13 attempts from behind the three-point arc and 9-of-20 from the field. Plata is third in the RRAC in scoring with 18.1 points per game. OLLU moved to 3-2 in conference play and 5-3 overall.

Galunic contributed four steals and a blocked shot as the Pilots limited Louisiana Christian to 60 points in a 100-60 victory. The senior forward from Zagreb, Croatia, also accounted for 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Galunic is averaging 11.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game this season. LSUS stays unbeaten at 4-0 in the RRAC and improves to 5-2 on the season.
