Weathers, Anderson nab RRAC men's hoops player of the week honors

WACO, Texas – James Weathers of Xavier University (La.) earned recognition as the RRAC Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week for Nov. 25-Dec. 1, while Taj Anderson of LSU Shreveport (La.) collected the RRAC Defensive Player of the Week honor for the same dates. This is the fifth set of weekly awards for the 2024-25 men's basketball season.

Weathers poured in a game-high 24 points in the Gold Rush's 89-72 home victory over NAIA No. 6 LSU Alexandria (La.), which entered the game with a 6-0 recordd. The graduate guard from Baton Rouge, La., made 8-of-18 shots from the field and 6-of-7 from the free throw line. Weathers also contributed four assists and two rebounds. He is averaging 13.3 points per game. Xavier improved to 4-1 in conference play and 5-2 on the season.

Anderson swiped six steals in the Pilots' 77-76 loss to Louisiana Christian University. The senior guard from Queens, N.Y., also had four defensive rebounds in addition to a strong offensive performance with 25 points and six assists. Anderson is fifth in the RRAC with 15.9 points per game this season. LSUS slipped to 1-3 in league competition and 4-4 overall.
