Long, a sophomore
shortstop from Pryor, Okla., was 11-for-18 at the plate in six games for
the Lady Warriors last week. She started the week with a 3-for-3 game
with two home runs and seven RBIs to knock off Oklahoma Baptist
University, 16-2. Long added another homer and drove in two runs as
Bacone lost to East Central University (Okla.), 8-6, in the same
tournament. Overall, she scored nine runs with three homers, three walks
and nine RBIs as Bacone moved to 17-5 in the conference and 27-27 on the
season.
Westerman, a junior
pitcher from Godley, Texas, earned victories for the Lady Knights in
both ends of a doubleheader with CSW. In the opener, she scattered five
hits over seven innings as Northwood won, 6-0. She followed with 5 1/3
innings of work in which she allowed one run on six hits as the Lady
Knights held on for the 9-7 win. In all, she struck out 12 hitters and
allowed only three walks. Northwood remains atop the RRAC standings with
a mark of 20-4 and a record of 29-18 for the season. -RRAC- |
