WACO, Texas – Lindsey Molinar of Texas Wesleyan University and Lea Santos of College of the Southwest (N.M.) were honored with the Red River Athletic Conference Softball Co-Player of the Week award for Feb. 25-March 4. TWU’s Ashley Tarrant and Ashley Westerman of Northwood University (Texas) earned a share of the RRAC Softball Pitcher of the Week honor.

Molinar, a senior extra fielder from Fort Worth, Texas, scored six runs and drove in two others in a 3-1 week for the Lady Rams. She went 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBIs in a 14-0 win over Texas College, and she was 2-for-3 hitting against Northwood University (Texas) in a 4-1 victory. Molinar also drew four walks and was 5-for-5 on stolen base attempts. TWU is now 4-2 in conference play and 4-10 on the season.

Santos, a senior catcher from Vallejo, Calif., accounted for two RBIs and four runs scored as CSW went 4-0 last week. She was 4-for-7 in a double-header against Bacone College (Okla.), and she scored twice in a 4-3 win over Sul Ross State University (Texas). In one of the one-run victories over Bacone, Santos delivered a run-scoring single to break the tie with two outs in the last inning. CSW climbed to 3-1 atop the RRAC standings with a 7-14 mark overall.  

Tarrant, a freshman pitcher from Martin’s Mill, Texas, picked up a pair of victories last week for the Lady Rams. She tossed a complete-game, one-hitter against Texas College with eight strikeouts and one walk. She then allowed just one run while striking out 10 batters in a 4-1 win over Northwood. For the week, she racked up 18 strikeouts and allowed just three walks.

Westerman, a junior pitcher from Godley, Texas, did not allow a run in 10 innings of work last week for the Lady Knights. She appeared in both games against TWU, including a three-hit effort for a 5-0 win in the first game of the double-header. Westerman also shut out TWU for three innings with three strikeouts in the 4-1 loss. Northwood moved to 1-1 in the RRAC and 7-8 on the season.

Katie Pfannerstill of Northwood University (Texas) and Alex Ramirez of Bacone College (Okla.) were also nominated for player of the week.
